Virtual Recruiters Chief Executive Officer, Brian Smith, began his career in executive search in 1988, when he joined Chase Adams, Inc. as an executive search consultant.  While at Chase Adams, Brian specialized in the recruitment of sales, sales management, and systems engineering within the computer and communications industries for companies such as Amdahl, Data General, Sun Microsystems, and Oracle, both on a contingency and retained basis.

In 1994, Brian joined Management Recruiters International, Inc., a national search firm, where he gained experience in the recruitment of healthcare professionals, providing search services in the areas of clinical rehabilitation and administration to rehabilitation service providers, hospitals, and healthcare systems.  One year later, recognizing the healthcare industries need and demand for specialized search services, Brian formed Odyssey Group Inc., a boutique search firm dedicated to placing clinical and technical specialists within healthcare organizations.

Family obligations and the desire to move west brought Brian into the corporate environment in 1998.  Brian joined Superior Consultant, a healthcare consulting firm specializing in information technology and management consulting services, where he led the talent acquisition efforts for the newly formed Enterprise Solutions Division.  Practice areas he and his team supported included Microsoft Solutions, Data Warehousing, Applications Development, Integrated Voice & Facility Solutions, Integrated Network Solutions, Internet & Messaging, as well as all strategic (non-matrix) positions.

For the next eight years Brian took on increasing levels of responsibility for talent acquisition functions that included Senior Management and Director roles within such companies as Quantum Corporation, a leading storage solutions provider, and Edwards Lifesciences, a premier medical device manufacturer, his role prior to starting Virtual Recruiters.

Brian's balance of successes both in the executive search field and in Fortune 500 staffing roles gives him a multifaceted perspective and deep understanding of talent acquisition within corporate environments.  Aside from the pure recruiting side of talent acquisition, he has also designed and delivered solutions in the areas of relocation services, background screening processes, university relations programs, applicant tracking systems, diversity plans, and new employee orientation.  In the time he has been in staffing leadership roles, he has never had a recruiter that has worked with him quit.  He takes great pride in being considered "a recruiter's recruiter".

In his spare time, Brian can be found practicing magic with his daughter Victoria.  As well he enjoys golf, billiards, and the occasional game of Texas hold'em.
